Bagheera-sailing
Arctic yacht charter Canada - Greenland - Spitsbergen - Iceland - Norway - Scotland
Considerations

The Arctic is a very vulnerable area and, although we are traveling by sailing yacht with a very small carbon footprint, we want to do everything possible to reduce our ecological footprint to the minimum. Please consider this when you pack your luggage. For example: waste water goes directly overboard, therefore biological, rather than synthetic, soaps and shampoos are preferred. We will carry the garbage of the whole summer with us back to St.John’s. A lot of goods from the shops are wrapped in cardboard and plastic, while most of that can be unpacked and the package material can be left behind in your place of residence. Only leave package material necessary for your goods not to spoil or to prevent damage to them.

Shops are not widely spread in the Arctic, which means that we need to bring everything with us from our port of origin. For this reason, it is impossible to serve fresh food throughout the trip. A lot of our food will come from pots and cans. Local grocery stores in Greenland, Baffin and Labrador do not have enough supplies for the trips we intend to make!

·      Traveling in remote areas, especially the Polar Regions, gives a great responsibility in helping other people in danger. Bagheera-sailing is forced by law to assist in any kind of rescue operation to save human lives or reduce damage to the environment. Such an event might have impact on our sailing schedule.

·         It might happen that we will not be able to reach our destination in the scheduled time due to weather or local ice conditions. Extra connections, transfers, or missed flights can never be ground for a claim towards us. However, we will do everything in our power to reduce such extra costs to a minimum without endangering the ship, the crew, or the environment.

·     Schedules are ALWAYS preliminary and are subject to changes forced by local conditions (e.g. ice and weather conditions, navigational hazards, etc.).

·         Safety of the ship and the crew is always the first priority and the skipper will act accordingly.
